SteelSeries Arctis 9X is a versatile model of headphones for gaming and casual listening for their wired and wireless Bluetooth connection and great battery life. They have comfortable over ear wearing style and closed back cups.
If we look at the SteelSeries Arctis 9X specs we will see that they state quite a low impedance of 32 Ohm, a wide range of frequency response - 20Hz-22KHz. 98 dB sensitivity supplies quality sound at loud volumes.
20 hours of battery life is quite a decent feature for wireless headphones. They also have a battery free listening mode. I find it comfortable to have a battery level indicator.
I find the sound of SteelSeries Arctis 9X satisfying to please most users for gaming and music listening. They deliver a right amount of bass, it is strong, but seems to lack subbass. The mids and highs are strong. The trebles may seem sharp with some tracks. The imaging is nice for gaming, voices and instruments.
Unfortunately, the headphones do not support ANC. The closed design does not isolate ambient noise enough and the sound will leak at loud volumes too.
The device supports Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi wireless connection. Detachable cable is 3 m/9.8 ft long.
As the set is designed for gaming it comes with a detachable microphone that is also great for calls. Their headband is adjustable but it will feel tight for large heads. The headband and cups are amply and softly padded. The cushions of cups are porous and do not make my ears as hot as most of the other closed back headphones. The cups lay flat but do not fold for a better portability and there is no carry case. As for the control functions, the buttons and app are quite enough for comfortable use.
