Features

I will start to review Audio-Technica ATH-M20x specs with its impedance that is 47 Ohm. They are quite loud and usable with low impedance devices. The frequency response range is 15Hz-20KHz that provides a decent quality sound at all pitches. The 96 dB sensitivity is great for loud volumes.

Sound

The headphones Audio-Technica delivers a very nice, pleasant and rich sound. The balance of low, middle, and high ranges is harmonious. Every detail is clear and distinct without fatiguing and excessive brightness. Unlike many other headphones they do not put mids backwards on the stage but deliver just the right amount of it. That makes a great critical listening device and a nice choice for neutral listeners of most genres.

Connectivity

The connection is represented with a 3 m/9.8 ft wire. It is detachable. That is safe if you move and it tangles over something or if you wish to change its type/length.

Comfort and design

The headphones are incredibly lightweight with 190 g/6.7 oz. They fit great with an adjustable headband which is also well padded. The large cups are amply padded as well and I find them comfortable to wear for hours. They do fold to carry and store in a smaller size. The design is made in all black and looks a bit plain and plasticky.

Pros and cons

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x pros and cons

Pros

  • Clear and neutral sound for mixing and recording, warm and balanced ranges
  • Comfortable light weight and fit with soft linings
  • The materials and build look and feel quality, sturdy, and reliable
  • Closed cups isolate ambient noise in a natural way
  • A plug adapter is a great option for different plug types and it holds firmly with a click

Cons

  • I find it not usable for sports, active use, traveling for the bulky design and leaky sound
  • I feel it lacks some control options, like a wheel for volume or buttons for more comfort in use
