They are closed-back and over-ear. However, what makes them different is that the first device is wired, while the second one can be used either as wireless or wired.
Although these appliances do not look similar, their technical features are mostly identical. Speaking of impedance, the devices made by SteelSeries have 32 Ohm. It is worth mentioning that their frequency response is 20 Hz - 20 kHz which is an average rate for headphones. With regard to sensitivity, this feature is 98 dB.
Since SteelSeries Arctis 7 is a wireless device, it comes with a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 24 hours. Thank the battery level indicator you will be warned when the battery is low. You can use app control with any of the devices but only SteelSeries Arctis 7 supports Wi-Fi.
SteelSeries Arctis 7 has a pretty neutral sound profile that is a little bass-heavy, which is great for genres like EDM and hip-hop. While low frequencies are stable, people who wear glasses may have a drop in low frequencies, as the ear cushions may not fit properly to the head.
Mid levels of SteelSeries Arctis 5 are well tuned for gaming, offering relatively warm low mid frequencies and a slight high mid gain to make it easier to hear your teammates talking to you.
These headphones have built-in buttons for control. Moreover, model Arctis 5 has in-line control. Both of them are equipped with a detachable microphone. The audio cable which comes with the devices is replaceable. SteelSeries Arctis 5 has a 300 cm long wire, while the length of SteelSeries Arctis 7 cable is 120 cm.
When it comes to comfort, weight is important. The headphones Arctis 5 and Arctis 7 have the same weight which is 355 g. They do not fold, however, their headband can be adjusted.
