Read MoreI decided to compare two pairs of wired headphones such as Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro vs Sennheiser HD 650. They are open back and have an over-ear wearing style. However, there are also a lot of differences between them.
First, let's take a look at the impedance. Sennheiser HD 650 has 300 Ohm but if you are going to buy Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro, you can choose the desired impedance — 80 Ohm or 250 Ohm. Speaking of sensitivity, the headphones made by Sennheiser have 103 dB and the professional device by Beyerdynamic has 96 dB.
The frequency response in the first case is 10 Hz - 41 kHz and in the second one 5 Hz - 35 kHz. Let me remind you that the commonly stated range of human hearing is 12 Hz to 28 kHz. It does not mean that with these headphones you will hear more than you can, but such frequency response will allow you to hear a very detailed sound.
Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro has a wonderful clarity of high frequencies. These headphones provide accurate sound reproduction in every aspect. Mid range sound excellent as it is wide and spacious with stringed instruments.
Sennheiser HD 650 vs Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro has a natural and detailed sound. The bass is not boosted here.
Although Beyerdynamic headphones feel quite convenient, they are much heavier than Sennheiser HD 650. Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro weighs 360 g whilst the second one has 260 g. The headband is adjustable in both cases. Also, you get a carry case with each of these appliances. The straight audio cable is obnoxiously long — 300 cm.
