Read MoreIf you are going to get high quality headphones for home or studio use my review of HIFIMAN HE400i vs Sennheiser HD600 will be helpful. These are open back over ear headphones with a wire.
Both headphones have a great audio resolution with a broad field of frequency response, 20Hz-35KHz vs 12Hz-40KHz. HIFIMAN HE400i reproduces a better sound at loud volumes with mobile devices having a lower impedance vs Sennheiser HD600, 35 vs 300 Ohm. The headphones have a high sensitivity of 93 vs 97 dB.
Both HIFIMAN HE400i and Sennheiser HD600 sound very natural and balanced. The highs and mids are very clear and detailed and bass level is quite enough for most genres of music and casual listening. The soundstage of HIFIMAN is not the widest as for open back headphones. It is more intimate, but imaging is quite detailed. While Sennheiser’s soundstage is very spacious. The difference is also that HIFIMAN HE400i sound more stellar with MP3 vs Sennheiser HD600 for its lower impedance. With HD600 you will need an amplifier and equalizer to get the same effect.
Both headphones are very light with 370 and 260 g. Their large ear cups are very large, well padded, and breathable for the open back design. The headbands are adjustable and not tightening the head. Great choice for long listening. Detachable cable makes them safe if it tangles over something or to change into a shorter/longer up to your needs.
