Read MoreHere I am going to tell you about the sound features and technical characteristics of Audio-Technica ATH-M40x vs AKG K240 STUDIO. These are headphones with an over-ear wearing style. They both are wired. The special thing is that the Audio-Technica device is closed back, while the one made by AKG is semi-open.
I find sensitivity one of the most important features, so let's compare. AKG K240 STUDIO has 104 dB which is a bit more than Audio-Technica ATH-M40x has — 98 dB. There is a tiny difference in their frequency response, as the first appliance works in a range of 15 Hz - 25 kHz and the second one — 15 Hz - 24 kHz. The Audio-Technica model has a lower impedance which is 35 Ohm whilst AKG K240 STUDIO has 55 Ohm.
Audio-Technica ATH-M40x does a great job of delivering crisp highs with excellent detail. On some tracks, you hear well-balanced audio, and on others, the headphones sound narrow.
AKG K240 STUDIO vs Audio-Technica ATH-M40x provides a wide-open soundstage. The mids and highs are very clean. With these headphones, you are going to hear vocals, guitars, cymbals, and winds in detail. Also, they delivers strong bass.
It is worth mentioning that the considered devices have an identical weight — 240 g. Like most of the headphones made by Audio-Technica, the model ATH-M40x is foldable. The height adjustments of the ear cups of both devices are flexible.
Every pair of headphones you get with a detachable audio cable which is 300cm long. I also noted that there is no carry case in the package, so any of these appliances are not perfect for travelling.
