Read MoreNowadays wireless headphones got incredibly popular. So, I decided to compare two pairs of such devices to see the difference between Sony WH-H900N vs WH-1000XM3. These appliances are closed-back and have an over-ear design.
Speaking of their impedance, Sony WH-H900N has 32 Ohm, which is twice higher than the other device has — 16 Ohm. Their sensitivity is approximately the same since the model WH-1000XM3 has 104 dB and WH-H900N has 103 dB. There is also only a slight difference in the frequency response. Sony WH-H900N works in a range from 5 Hz to 40 kHz, while the frequency response of Sony WH-1000XM3 is 4 Hz - 40 kHz.
Both of the considered devices support Bluetooth, NFC, and aptX HD, but none has Wi-Fi. In the case with Sony WH-H900N, the battery life is 28 hours, however, the appliance can work 34 hours with noise-canceling off. With regard to WH-1000XM3, its battery lasts 30 hours but can last 8 hours longer without noise-canceling. The first device needs 6 hours of charging, while the second one needs only 3. The headphones are equipped with a battery level indicator.
The audio of Sony WH-H900N is incredibly crisp and there is no distortion in the sound at all. The mid-range of the headphone is pretty well-balanced.
The highs of the model WH-1000XM3 are crystal clear and the mids are straightforward. Instruments and vocals are all full and well defined.
Although the headphones are wireless, an audio cable comes with each of them. It is 120 cm long in the case with Sony WH-H900N. Only this device has built-in buttons. Both of the mentioned appliances have in-line control and touch control. With them, you can use Google Assistant and Siri. For making phone calls it is comfortable to use a built-in microphone that these appliances have.
The headphones easily fold and have an adjustable headband. When it comes to weight, Sony WH-1000XM3 vs WH-H900N is much lighter, as it has 290 g, while the other pair of headphones weighs 380 g.
