Features

Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless with impedance 32 Ohm wins twice vs Sony WH1000XM3 with 16 Ohm. Though the frequency response is almost equal, 5Hz-40KHz vs 4Hz-40KHz accordingly. The difference in sensitivity is also very slight, 100 vs 104 dB. Battery life of both headphones is 30 hours, however Sony with noise cancelling option works 8 hours longer. Both support aptX and aptX HD.

Sound

Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless have a harmonious sound overall that I would call neutral. In Sony WH1000XM3 I can hear a good bass and a good balance of instruments and vocals. In general, it sounds decently neutral and smooth. It is represented with an active noise cancelling with an adjustable level that is a big plus for this model.

Comfort and design

The weight of Sony WH1000XM3 vs Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless is almost equal, 380 g vs 381 g. Both headphones have an adjustable headband. The Sony model is more portable for its foldable cups.

The headphones have a built-in microphone, a detachable cable, in-line, touch, and app, and voice control supported by Google Assistant/Siri. Battery free listening mode is present in both though the battery level indicator I find in the Sony headphone only.

Sony WH1000XM3 pros and cons

Sony WH1000XM3 pros and cons

Pros

  • Simple but smart design with smooth lines and graceful shapes
  • Soft pads covered with synthetic suede
  • The closed design helps to block out a bit of outer chatter and other insignificant noise

Cons

  • The cups shape leaves some gaps around the ears, especially in the bottom, that makes the sound leaky
  • Aren't very portable with a rather bulky design and unfoldable cups that make them take quite a lot of room

Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless pros and cons

Beyerdynamic Amiron Wireless pros and cons

Pros

  • Comfortable super soft leather padded cups
  • Good in the terms of portability thanks to the cups designed to swivel and fold inwards
  • Soft padded headband repeats the shape of your head very gently so it does not feel tight even for long wearing

Cons

  • The closed-back over-ear style makes these headphones not very breathable that can make your ears sweat for some circumstances in a closed room
