AKG K702 are high end headphones for critical listening of Austrian production. The headphones have large over ear cups with open enclosure for acoustic sound and wide soundstage, breathability and comfort. The wired design is natural for the type as they are supposed to be used at home/in the studio.
A bright feature of AKG K702 specs is a wide range of frequency response that takes a field 10Hz-40KHz and allows them to reproduce a clear and strong sound at all ranges and volumes. The sensitivity of 105 dB makes the sound impact stronger and reproduces it at high volumes without fails. With an impedance of 62 Ohm they will sound pretty well with a mobile device or MP3 player.
Due to the open design, the sound is spacious. The instruments are detailed. The bass is deep and engaging. The reproduction of voices is fantastic. Midrange and highs are good. The sound is not fatiguing and very balanced. I guess it will satisfy the majority of listeners.
There is a natural sound leakage for the open back type headphones. The cups close a little the ambient noise at a definite level naturally, as the cup is a bit closed for the magnet included.
The cable is detachable, that is a plus, as it seems not the best quality and you may need to change it.
My AKG K702 review in the terms of comfort will be positive. They fit softly and light with just 235 g/8.3 oz. The headband may be adjusted, it is light and not tight. However, they are not stable, cumbersome and bulky to use in activities and not foldable to carry out.
Unfortunately, there are no controls. Also I would add a carry case or at least a bag to store them, but there is not one in a set.
