I will start my Philips SHP9500 review with the fact that it is a great pair of over ear open back wired headphones. Due to their open design, they are mostly intended for home and studio critical listening. I will share with you further my impressions of their quality sound and build.
As for the Philips SHP9500 specs, with quite a low impedance of 32 Ohm they deliver a good amount of sound of a decent quality with low impedance mobile devices and players. The frequency response is above average of 12Hz-35KHz wide range. A great sensitivity of 101 dB provides quality sound at loud volumes.
I like these open back headphones for their spacious soundstage that places instruments distinctly and in balance on the stage. The clarity of trebles and mids is exceptional and well balanced with low ranges. They sound pretty well with most genres of music except for heavy bass. Here is the weakness of this model. It is definitely not for bassheads. But still very nice headphones for neutral critical listening.
It is natural for the open back headphones to be supplied with a wire and have a wired connection only. Philips SHP9500 is intended for home or studio use. There is a detachable 3 m/10 ft long cable.
The headband allows you to adjust it to fit your head comfortably. The headband and cups are well padded and feel comfy. But the fabric is not the most comfy to touch. The cups do not fold for a more compact size. However, they are not intended to carry with so that is not a problem for the type. I find that the most important are large ear cups and not tight fit for long hours of critical listening. 320 g/11.3 oz of weight feels light on the head. They look premium built.
