Shure SRH440 is an improved model of over ear closed back headphones compared to the previous ones but still they are not a very versatile device for multipurpose use. They are represented with a wired connection and have a good neutral sound. I hope my Shure SRH440 review will help you to figure out whether this model suits you.
The Shure SRH440 specs make them a good pair of Hi-Fi headphones with the field of frequency response from 10Hz to 22KHz. The great sensitivity of 105 dB should make them deliver a quality sound at very loud volumes. It has not the lowest impedance of 44 Ohm that makes them compatible with most audio devices.
Shure SRH440 has very bright trebles that may sound even sharp with some tracks. Still the highs and mids are transparent and harmonious. The bass-heads may feel a lack of bass and its shades. Also I feel the sound too closed in a narrow soundstage even with its clarity. Still the sound will please many users and music genres.
The headphones Shure SRH440 are connected to a receiver with a wire and adapter that allows a more versatile compatibility. It is detachable and that is great for safe connection and interchangeability.
I find the weight of 310 g/10.9 oz light and comfy to wear on the head even for long hours. The paddings are soft and nice to touch and enough for stable fit. Large cups sit well on my ears and seal them creating a natural protection from ambient noise. But they may feel a bit hot for its closed design. They cannot be folded to carry with. The headband may be adjusted for various head sizes and it is not tight as for me.
