HIFIMAN SUNDARA Review and Specs

HiFiMan Sundara is a great choice for critical listening and is intended for professional use mostly. That is caused by their bulky over-ear design, leaky open enclosure, absence of ANC and wired connection only.

Features

I am impressed with the HiFiMan Sundara specs for their huge field of frequency response. That definitely makes them hi-end headphones for mixing and recording with a supreme fidelity. It states 6Hz-75KHz. With the sensitivity of 94 dB they reproduce a quality and clear sound at loud volumes. A low impedance of 37 dB will deliver it great without an amp.

Sound

My HiFiMan Sundara review is based on my own audio preferences, still I find it a great device for any music genres. They have a strong bass that still leaves space and clarity for trebles and highs. The imaging is clear and just right for each type of sound and instrument placed accurately around the wide soundstage.

Connectivity

They are adjusted with a cable only. The 1.5 m/4.9 ft is quite enough for the function stated, but I find it not very mobile to move around. An adapter that comes in a set multiplies its usage with versatile devices.

Comfort and design

HiFiMan Sundara have an average weight as for over ear headphones. It is 372 g/13.1 oz. They feel quite comfy on the head and not fatiguing in any way. I love the large and amply padded cups. Their open enclosure allows the air flow and my ears do not sweat if I wear them long. They are not foldable, but you will hardly need that function for the type of headphones as they are not usable out with their leaky sound and absence of any noise cancelling. The headband is easy to adjust individually for your head. I like the simple and smart look of HiFiMan Sundara.

Pros and cons

HIFIMAN SUNDARA pros and cons

Pros

  • Incredibly bright sound with superb clarity of all the details that still is not too sharp and pleasant to listen
  • Wide soundstage for pleasant listening experience
  • Quite light and comfortable fit that is stable on the head and feels nice even for long wearing
  • All black design with matte finish and metal elements that seems both smart and durable

Cons

  • Large size and unfoldable cups that allow a lot of ambient noise and very leaky sound do not make it a good choice for office/sports/traveling etc
