Read MoreThe tested couple Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO vs Sennheiser HD 599 are the leaders of over ear, wired headphones with professionals and music fans. The first one is closed back and the second is open, but let’s see more details.
Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is produced with impedance of 16, 32, 80, and 250 Ohm vs 50 Ohm of Sennheiser HD 599. The headphones differ in frequency by 5Hz-35KHz vs 12Hz-38KHz and sensitivity of 96 vs 106 dB. Let’s see what does it give us in sound.
I find Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO to be great for neutral listening! It produces a very natural combination of lows, mids, and highs the way they’ve been recorded. That corresponds to their definition to be professional headphones for critical listening, though, these features will suit most music genres with amateur listeners as well.
Sennheiser HD 599 reproduces a clear sound with bright vocals, trebles and distinct highs. That I guess is achieved by the mids placed a little backwards on the stage. The sound stage is open and live, however you should not expect the effect of opera.
Both headphones have a rather bulky design and are unfoldable. That makes them not very portable but comfortable for almost any ears and great to perceive each shade of sound.
Sennheiser HD 599 fits softer for its thick padding while Beyerdynamic seems to be quite tight for most heads.
The weight of Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is 360 g vs 250 g of Sennheiser HD 599.
